As many of you know, Chi Psi recently suffered a major loss with the passing of Executive Council Member, Alpha Gamma Advisor, and dedicated national volunteer, Doug Buglewicz, Gamma ’96 (Ole Miss).
Doug was incredibly involved with Chi Psi, at both the local and national levels, and always remained dedicated to creating opportunities to foster brotherhood.
One form this dedication took was Alpha Gamma’s highly successful “Fridays @ 5” happy hour. “Fridays @ 5” is a weekly opportunity for area alumni to meet and socialize over drinks at a predetermined location (usually a different local bar each week). A highly anticipated event in Oxford, this weekly social has been a great way to bring together of-age actives and local alumni from all eras.
In the spirit of Doug’s legacy, we are challenging alumni living in areas with high concentrations of Chi Psi Brothers to hold similar events in their respective cities. Our goal is to hold 17 events nationwide, each with at least 17 Chi Psis in attendance, by the end of 2017!
Events could be held on Fridays @ 5, Thursdays at 6, the 17th of each month, whenever works best for your local alumni, and recurring as frequently as your group sees fit. The important thing is that we are bringing Chi Psis together.
Our hope is that this tradition will grow, and that these events will continue to arise everywhere that Chi Psis can be found.
If you plan to hold an event in your area, or would be interested in attending one, please comment below to let others know!
