Chi Psi is Growing!

It is an exciting time for Chi Psi as we begin to implement our membership and extension plan in an effort to grow the fraternity and offer the Chi Psi experience to more and more young men across the nation. This year Chi Psi is working to re-establish Alphas at three universities: Texas Tech, Wesleyan, and the University of Mississippi.

Alpha Colony at Wesleyan University

On October 19 the Colony pledged an additional fourteen men, bringing the colony’s membership total to twenty-five. On October 20 the colony hosted a homecoming celebration that included a parent/alumni tailgate and celebration dinner. Several Brothers and alumni from Alpha Chi and Alpha Rho made the trip to Middletown to partake in the weekend’s festivities.

Over the remainder of the academic year the colonists will be working closely with the Central Office, local alumni, and national volunteers to petition for Alpha status. The Colony is expected to petition for Alpha status at the 172 Annual Convention in Winston Salem, NC.

Alpha Xi Delta at Texas Tech University

On August 20 the membership and extension team hit the ground in Lubbock, TX to begin the re-establishment efforts of Alpha Xi Delta at Texas Tech University. The Central Office is excited for Chi Psi to return to Texas Tech.

With the extension team recruiting over forty men the future of Alpha Xi Delta looks bright. The active pledges at Xi Delta have taken on officer roles and responsibilities and are laying a foundation for the Alpha to build future success on. Through participation in several program for excellence style events and interaction and partnerships with various campus organizations the men of Chi Psi are starting to make a name for themselves on Texas Tech’s campus. The Alpha’s leadership has a set a goal of recruiting twenty-five additional men this spring.

In February of 2013 the men helping re-establish Chi Psi at Texas Tech will be initiated. Be on the look out for details about the initiation and banquet celebration.

Alpha Gamma at the University of Mississippi

Chi Psi is set to return to the University of Mississippi during the spring semester of 2013. Over the last twelve months the Central Office staff has been working closely with Alpha Gamma Alumni and the University of Mississippi to develop plans for Chi Psi’s return to Ole Miss.

In October the Central Office staff facilitated Alumni Advisory Board training for Alpha Gamma alumni. In early November, extension coordinator Derek Taylor visited Ole Miss to continue to build relationships on campus and with the surrounding community, develop a names list, and work with local alumni. The extension team will hit the ground in Oxford for six weeks on January 15, 2013. We are looking forward to Chi Psi’s return to Oxford, Mississippi!
